Assistant Professor, Linguistics

Academic focus:

Learning of sound patterns, representation of paradigms, Austronesian languages

Current research project: 

Using corpus data on change over time (in Malagasy, Samoan, and Maori) to understand how people learn sound patterns. In particular, I model the interaction of statistical learning with other factors, such as an innate bias for people to learn simpler patterns.
