Hasan Sezer defended his dissertation “Puzzling reflexive kendi in Turkish and its implications for the parser” on May 6, 2020, chaired by Miloje Despić with committee members Mats Rooth, John Whitman, Draga Zec, and Bilal Kirkici (Middle East Technical University). He is currently working at Halic University in the department of English translation and Interpreting where he teaches Linguistics, Semiotics, and Psycholinguistics classes.
Carol-Rose Little defended her dissertation "Mutual dependencies of nominal and clausal syntax in Ch'ol" on June 9, 2020, co-chaired by Miloje Despić and Sarah Murray with committee members Molly Diesing and Jessica Coon (McGill University). After defending, Carol-Rose began a job as a postdoctoral fellow in the department of linguistics at McGill University.
Ryan Windhearn defended his dissertation "Evidence from Innovation: Reconstructing Disharmonic Headedness for Proto-Indo-European" on June 19, 2020, co-chaired by Michael Weiss and John Whitman, with committee member Miloje Despic.
Jacob Collard defended his dissertation "A Model of Unsupervised Formal Learning for Natural Language" on June 24, 2020, chaired by Mats Rooth with committee members John Bowers, Miloje Despic. After defending, Jacob accepted a post-doctoral position at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In this position, he is working on several research projects involving computational linguistics, including new methods of representing natural language text (especially scientific text) for search and discovery.

This October, Mia Windhearn began a postdoctoral researcher position at Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, under the supervision of Hana Filip, in the department of linguistics where she is teaching semantics and logic.
