Southern accents differ depending on where in the South you're from, for instance, plus race, class and age. University of Georgia researchers Margaret Renwick (Cornell PhD, 2012) and William Kretzschmar are starting a project to catalogue the South’s many accents. The project will map of how different people say different things across the South. Renwick and Kretzschmar hope to describe all the ways that someone can sound Southern.
